Welcome to Shrewsbury Choral

We are a mixed amateur choir drawn from Shropshire and the Welsh borders, meeting weekly to rehearse for four concerts each year.

Unlike many choirs, which tend to stay within their "comfort zone" and stick to the standard choral repertoire, we draw inspiration from a wide variety of styles. In recent concerts we have performed Philip Stopford’s “Missa Deus Nobiscum”, the "Nidaros Jazz Mass" by Bob Chilcott, John Rutter’s “Sprig of Thyme” and “Mass of the Children”, Helen Ostafew’s “Requiem for Humanity” and the “Requiem - In an age of anxiety” composed for us by our accompanist John Bowen.

This doesn't mean that we ignore the "old favourites" - our repertoire also includes Mozart’s Requiem and Handel's Coronation anthems and Messiah, Haydn’s Creation and Beethoven’s Mass in C.

Finally, and most importantly, we have a lot of fun! Why not come along and see for yourself?

“The only thing better than singing is more singing.”
